The IP3 team is thrilled to be attending the American Public Health Association (APHA) annual meeting in Minneapolis, MN to celebrate and promote two of its Community Commons Spaces! Community Commons Spaces—a product from IP3—equip organizations and communities with a customizable online content library for knowledge management powered by the Community Commons back-end knowledgebase. Traditional approaches to knowledge management are not effective in complex, multi-sector community work; Community Commons Spaces help organizations more effectively retain and build upon prior learning, create shared language and values, and catalyze collective action vital for fostering thriving communities.
This month at the APHA conference, IP3 is hosting a booth alongside the Alliance for the Public’s Health where we’re sharing PHERN— the Public Health Equity Resource Navigator. Our team is also presenting our collaborative work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to build and launch Communities in Context: powering local action for health equity.
Promoting PHERN at APHA
IP3 has partnered with APHA and the Alliance for the Public’s Health for three years as we’ve collaborated to build and maintain PHERN—a Community Commons Space that helps changemakers navigate over 2,000 resources focused on improving the public’s health, advancing equity, and building a resilient, robust, sustainable public health system for the future. This year at the conference, we’re promoting new Public Health Advocacy content designed to equip users with resources they need to support an effective advocacy campaign to protect public health. Explore resources including:
Fact sheets on public health authority
Communications tools and strategies: Refine your communications to effectively advocate for public health within your networks, communities and with elected officials
Engaging partners with a variety of differing views
Legislative and litigation tracking: Legislative and litigation tracking databases and summaries are great resources to look back on trends in the 2022 & 2023 sessions
Advocacy Strategies
If you’re attending the APHA conference this month, visit our booth and mention this post to receive a free gift as a token of our appreciation for being a subscriber!
IP3 Presents Communities in Context Space at APHA
Communities and organizations around the nation are using Community Commons Spaces to thrive together and advance equitable well-being. IP3 has partnered with the CDC and the CDC Foundation to publish the Communities in Context Space focused on Detroit, Michigan. The Space offers insight into the complex relationship between mental health and housing in this dynamic and diverse community.
Communities in Context (CiC) is a community-engaged approach to gathering and using local data to improve health. CiC centers community members’ voices, experiences, and perspectives as key data in decision-making and considers the broader factors that influence health – from social determinants like housing and education to the underlying structures and systems, like economic policies and racism. The Space includes data dashboards exploring housing, mental health, adverse childhood experiences; community voice including photos and quotes; and a comprehensive resource library to explore these issues both in Detroit and nationally.
