IP3 has long supported healthy, equitable, sustainable communities working to advance well-being for current and future generations. Over the past several years, our work has focused on curating and sharing tools, data, and approaches organizations and networks need to meet the growing movement to thrive together.

The Thriving Together movement is grounded in the Vital Conditions for Well-Being framework and unites around a common goal of all people and all places thriving, with no exceptions. There is a growing network of community stewards adopting the ethos of Thriving Together in an effort to shape a healthier and more equitable future.

As community members and organizations around the nation begin to work together in new ways, IP3 has partnered to support the core practices all groups need to create meaningful, sustainable change together.

What is Thriving Together?

Thriving Together is a growing movement committed to creating communities where everyone has a fair chance to participate, prosper, and reach their full potential. During 2020, in the wake of COVID-19 and the murder of George Floyd more than 100 people and organizations diverted daily work to help craft Thriving Together: A Springboard for Equitable Recovery and Resilience in Communities Across America. The Springboard was designed to open a new chapter in America’s quest for well-being and justice—to propel a Thriving Together movement that matched the high stakes of the legacy moment. Today, there is a growing network of organizations and communities adopting the principles and practices of Thriving Together to shape a healthier, more equitable future.

Essential Practices for Creating Change Together

IP3’s expertise and tools—Community Commons, Community Commons Spaces, and IP3 ASSESSare well-suited to support and amplify the work of collaborative networks who are expanding Vital Conditions and the opportunity for all of us to thrive together. Below, we’ve outlined how our work is helping communities turn a vision of Thriving into action. The essential practices for Thriving Together are:

Shape a Shared Vision

Shaping a shared vision means reimagining what is possible and developing a clear, common goal that everyone understands, believes in, and contributes to.

  • Community Commons lifts up community stories and examples from around the country while offering national context to support local groups in reshaping their visions, based on learnings and innovations coming out of the larger movement.

  • Community Commons Spaces provide regional hubs to house network resources, change models, and frameworks. Spaces help create shared understanding of key concepts and provide a venue for partners to co-develop language that resonates with their unique community.

  • IP3 ASSESS provides data organized by frameworks to understand the state of communities when it comes to each of the Vital Conditions for Well-Being. With the simple data outputs and customizable dashboard tools, communities can tell a more complete story.

Grow Trusting Relationships

Growing trusted relationships means creating meaningful, sustained change through strong relationships built on trust, empathy transparency, and collaboration among partners and across sectors.

  • Community Commons Spaces serve as a digital backbone for collaboratives, providing a shared space for communities to connect, share, and coordinate efforts. Regional Networks leverage Spaces to facilitate dialogue and collaboration across sectors.

  • Community Commons organizes thousands of curated, vetted resources to support changemakers, organized across common topics and into various content libraries to simplify resource discovery and build shared learning and understanding.

  • Community Commons Spaces help groups develop and refine shared language through knowledge-sharing and peer learning.

  • IP3 ASSESS provides data-driven narratives that help communities translate data into actionable insights.
